One output is sufficient when flow velocities are less than 3 m/s, or the test volume is no more than 3 m³.
Two outputs above either threshold. Two outputs also let you seed the flow from two locations simultaneously — for many users, the more valuable reason.
Multiple consoles for exceptionally large environments.
The Model 5 Console is expandable, so a single-output system can gain a second output later.

If you need a number rather than a picture, you need the arc lamp. If you need to see where the flow separates, the Basic Light does it faster and moves more easily.
The console needs 0.028 m³/min of air per output at 276 kPa and 200 cm³/min of helium per output at 138 kPa. Standard commercial grades are sufficient — high purity is optional. If your air supply carries water or oil, it must be filtered.
If regulated air and a helium cylinder are already at your test location, you need nothing further. If they aren’t — or if you test in more than one place — add the Auxiliary Air & Helium Supply: 20 hours of single-output operation from a wheeled case, with a transfill manifold for recharging on site.
